Google Nexus 5 — Does not connect to Macbook through USB cable

Till OS 5.1.1, I simply connected N5 to my Macbook , running OS 10.5.8, through a USB cable - and it opened on the Desktop.

Now with OS 6 - it says disconnect USB cable, then disable screen lock, then reconnect.

However there is no screen lock - only DU Battery saver.

So N5 window on the Desktop is blank.

Tried rebooting - both the N5 & and the Mac Book - no help.

Any suggestions?
