Delete APK Files

My antivirus software (McAfee) is recommending that I delete all APK files to "save space".
I don't know much about APK files or Android ops. I understand that APK files deliver/install apps on my phone.
Is it okay to delete the APK once the app is installed & running? Or does the app still depend on the APK for proper operation?
Thanks for your patience and support for an "old guy"

If the app was installed in that apk, when you uninstall the apk you will probably uninstall the app also! (But I'm not 100% sure about that)
I have a suggestion, in play store there is a app called Master Sweep!
This app is used to uninstall unused and obsolete apk pack's. It will scan your apps and files and remove the ones that are not being used and are not nessary.
You might want to look into it!

An apk file is a package installer for android app. It is just for app installing.

Download size < 0.08 MB. But also Ad-free, Pure & Accurate enough.
The minimalist app is available on Google Play https://goo.gl/ws42fN

Yep! You can delete the APK files to free up your phone storage as long as you've installed the app.

You can safely delete the APK without damaging already installed apps. APK files are only needed to install the app. After installation, the app functions by itself. Often APK are difficult to find, because it is not clear where they were downloaded. I can advise you to use a special uninstaller that can also track junk files and clear them. This way you will save time and free up space. I wish you good luck!
